Land recognition: Mapping the Way supports Indigenous Peoples and communities by celebrating their traditional role as stewards as well as their ongoing relationship and connection to the land and waters of the Yukon. Mapping the Way features the voices of First Nations leaders and their stories on the history of First Nations self-governance and self-determination in the Yukon. We pay our respects to First Nations leaders, Elders, officials and community members past, present and future who mapped the way to establishing a new governance system for the benefit of all who live in the Yukon.

Notice: In the spirit of celebration, we honour the contributions of First Nations leaders, Elders, officials and community members past, present and future who mapped the way to self-governance and self-determination for First Nations in the Yukon. This website includes images and voices of people who have crossed to the spirit world. We raise our hands up to these trail blazers who continue to watch over us as we create and work within the new governance system in the Yukon. We respect and hold them in great esteem as we celebrate the wonderful legacies they left for the benefit of all who live in the Yukon.
